Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a multiethnic background. The father of Jacqueline's Elroy Fernandez hails of Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is Malaysian. Her brothers are younger and a older sister. She was born and raised in Bahrain. The family of her parents been to the country in the 1980s due to the civil war that occurred in Sri Lanka. After her schooling in Bahrain, she was awarded an Scholarship to study at Sydney's University of Sydney, where she completed a bachelor's diploma in Media and Communications in Sydney, Australia. To enhance her passion for cultures, languages and other languages she enrolled in the Berlitz schools of languages in order to study Spanish and also improve her French and Arabic. In 2006, she was crowned the Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2006 in March, 2006. She also participated at Miss Universe 2006. After her winning the 2006 Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone made her debut on television and hosted a program about Sri Lankan businesses known as Lanka Business Report. Padukone is the daughter of badminton player Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and raised in Bangalore. Padukone played in the national championships when she was young teenagers, however she decided to give her sporting career in order to pursue a career as a model. Padukone is born in Mangalorean heritage and her native language is Konkani. Padukone is a village located in Kundapura Taluk located in Udupi in Karnataka State in India, is where her lineage originates. Prakash Padukone has retired as a world-renowned athlete in badminton, while her mother also works as a travel advisor.
